From the well-known work by Georges Bizet, Óscar de Manuel has created El Musical Flamenco “CARMEN”, a new composition that aims to be a reflection of today’s society, based on the popularity of the original opera, and supported by a reduction of Mérimée’s original libretto by co-stage director Juan Conchillo and dramatically and scenically reinterpreted by Ignacio García.
The choreography of Jesús Carmona, winner of the Benois de la Danse Prize, transcends and protects the essence of dance in its frenetic evolution and its virtuosity is transferred to the most current and contemporary flamenco dance, transporting us to a universe never seen before. A work that transcends the popular to the present day, with the aim of bringing G. Bizet’s opera to all audiences with an innovative staging and a unique lyrical and scenic orchestral reduction, which with a devilish dance and music give an unexpected and unprecedented colour to G. Bizet’s great work.
Under the direction of Óscar de Manuel, theatre, lyric, music, flamenco and dance form a symbiosis that no other title in the operatic repertoire can better extol the essence of Spain, its culture and its history.
A Flamenco Musical that finds in the spontaneity and indifference between the characters, the key that makes the instinct that provokes the prejudices between love, possession and that absolute freedom of the woman, to be able to decide about herself, flourish. About her life.
